Entering Canada

International delegates attending the IGC 2028 in Calgary will be supported by a streamlined entry and visa process designed specifically for large scientific congresses hosted in Canada. Depending on nationality, visitors may require either a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) or an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) to enter the country. Participants are encouraged to review Canada’s official immigration guidelines early, as visa processing times can vary by region. Upon registration, delegates will receive appropriate documentation, such as invitation letters, to support their visa applications and ensure a smooth arrival experience.

To further facilitate entry for all participants, the IGC 2028 will be formally registered with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) under the International Events and Conventions Services Program (IECSP). This registration provides several advantages, including recognition of the event by Canadian border officials and access to expedited support for delegate entry, scientific equipment, promotional materials, and exhibit shipments. The IECSP designation reinforces Canada’s commitment to welcoming the global geoscience community and ensures delegates can focus on their congress experience with confidence and ease.
