IGC 2028 Committees

The IGC 2028 Team is made up of various committees, groups, and members.

Canada IGC 2028 Foundation Board

The Canada IGC 2028 Foundation is the organisation responsible for financial and legal responsibilities. They approve business and strategic plans, financial requests, and vet and sign contracts. The Foundation also support the NOC. Foundation Board directors include a Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer, as well as other directors.

National Organisation Committee and Subcommittees

The National Organisation Committee (NOC) is responsible for providing the overall strategic guidance, coordination, and driving all aspects of IGC2028, including the putting together of the conference program, including scientific themes, field excursions, and for promoting the conference. The NOC is the committee that will host IGC 2028. They report-to, and are accountable-to the Foundation Board.

Two chairs - Katherine Boggs and Glenn Dolphin - are responsible for this committee.

Various subcommittees, including the Scientific Program, Field Excursion, Education and Outreach, Social Media and Communications, Sponsorship, and the GeoHost Subcommittees report to the NOC to ensure the smooth organisation of the conference. The NOC also liaises with the IAC and IAB.

International Advisory Committee

The International Advisory Committee (IAC) consists of members from around the world. They are responsible for providing strategic guidance, and ensuring global cohesion and cooperation to make IGC 2028 a successful conference. This includes making sure that the program is well-aligned with international research priorities.

Indigenous Advisory Board

An Indigenous Advisory Board (IAB) is in the process of being set-up. This Board will ensure that Indigenous aspects are being appropriately and authentically represented at IGC 2028.
