Among the golden larches, the snowy peaks of the Rockies found solace.
The mountains, shaped by geological forces over millions of years, remind us of the power and the beauty of the Earth—and how nature can be a source of healing and peace.
As we prepare to host the next IGC in 2028, the Rockies welcome you with open arms.

From Dreams to Reality: Canada to Host the Next IGC in 2028 in Calgary, Alberta! 🇨🇦🎉
This still feels like a dream. A few months ago, we hoped the Canadian team would bring the next IGC to showcase our beautiful geologies. Now, we are proud to celebrate not only hosting IGC 2028 in Calgary but also being featured on Local News!
It all began with an unforgettable kickoff week at IGC 2024 in Busan, South Korea. Our journey to Busan was filled with excitement. All the hard work paid off as we welcomed everyone from the Icebreaker Party to the Closing ceremony.
Craig First Rider from CurbsideConcertsCanada and the Blackfoot Confederacy captured the spirit of unity through his stunning cultural performance. And a special shout-out to our acting ambassador at the time, @Rouslan Kats, and Alberta representative in Korea Counsellor, Victor Lee. Your presence made a huge impact! @canadakorea
Thank you to our sponsors, supporters, and those we might have missed in our posts. Your encouragement and enthusiasm mean everything to us, and we're excited to move forward together. We’re thrilled to see our efforts and the journey recognized!

Before and after the igc2028 in Calgary, delegates will have the chance to do individual-, friend- or family-based recreation and touring activities within the city.
Background photo: Confluence of the Elbow and Bow Rivers near the northeast edge of Fort Calgary. The Bow River begins in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, passes through the Alberta foothills and then the Saskatchewan prairies, where it meets the Oldman River and forms the South Saskatchewan River. It then ultimately flows through the Nelson River to drain into Hudson Bay. That's one long river course!

Hello everyone!
Greetings from Busan! We’re a little late with this update, but we’ve been busy kicking off our adventure at the International Geological Congress at BEXCO, and it’s been an incredible experience so far. From setting up our booth to proudly wearing our Canadian uniforms, it’s been amazing to connect with everyone here. A huge thank you to Craig First Rider, from the Blackfoot Confederacy, for sharing the rich culture of the Indigenous peoples at the Icebreaker Party on August 25.
It was extraordinary to see everyone so captivated by the stories and traditions Craig shared. The genuine curiosity and enthusiasm from everyone made it an unforgettable evening. Check out our photos from the event and our booth—we're proud to represent Canada and can’t wait to share more of this special occasion with all of you. Stay tuned!!

We spoke with Tania Martins to learn more about lithium mining in Canada, and the role this important resource has, and will continue to play in the future of sustainable energy. Lithium is used in many of our modern electronics, including the batteries of electric cars - a more sustainable alternative to fossil fuel-powered vehicles - and the research and exploration Tania is conducting will help to pave the way to a greener and more sustainable future. We look forward to seeing you in 2028!
